arch-well is a small architecture practice based in Richmond, Virginia, exploring the relationship between building, landscape, and human experience. The work seeks clarity rather than excess — spaces shaped by their surroundings and intended to support calm, attention, creativity, and everyday life.

Reflections, from the studio
On site
Building and landscape are treated as a single environment, not as separate objects. Site, topography, vegetation, climate, light, structure, and material are considered together, so that architecture emerges from the conditions already present. The same attention turns inward, toward how places shape attention, calm, and everyday experience — an interest informed by cognitive science and neuroscience.
Performance follows the same logic. Passive strategies, durable assemblies, and a close understanding of heat, air, water, and light are considered from the first section drawing, not added afterward — keeping comfort, efficiency, resilience, and longevity integral to the architecture.
